Weldcraft was founded in a residential garage as a welding torch repair shop. Our first customers were aerospace companies who were looking for ways to get more life out the TIG torches. At that time, rebuilding or remolding a torch body was not an option - a new torch body was the only solution.
Weldcraft's garage operation found an easy and economical process for putting new life back into those old worn-out torches. They found that they could burn the hard plastic insulation off the torches and make the necessary internal repairs. The body was then remolded with a silicone rubber compound, saving customers a fair amount of money over the cost of new torches. Silicone rubber was chosen over hard plastic because it does not degrade with the high frequency associated with aluminum welding.
Weldcraft has grown substantially over the last 30 years due to new product development and innovation coupled with strong global distribution channels spanning six continents. |
